An original 1930s vintage school gym mat originating from the former Czechoslovakia. The mat is very well made and heavy, made from a thick leather hide and stitched together around the outer edges. The natural leather mat has a mottled tan and brown patina.  A manufacturer's original painted white serial number is still visible in one corner. The mat can be carried using the two on the top of each side. As it's heavy it does require two strong people to carry it.

There are a lot of signs of wear and tear particularly to the stitching which I've illustrated in the images but I personally think that it adds to its character. One leather handle has been replaced with a cloth handle in the past.

The mat would be perfect for an industrial space perhaps as an alternative bed headboard or the back of a sofa or banquette. The handles can be threaded through a wooden pole supported on two brackets to hang it from the wall.

Rare and difficult to source.
