Price: £POA

This iconic image of The Rolling Stones (LTR – Keith Richards, Mick Jagger, Brian Jones, Bill Wyman and Charlie Watts) was originally taken on Primrose Hill, North London in 1966 at 5:30am following an all-night recording session in the studio. The photograph was an outtake from Mankowitz’s famous cover session for the band’s album ‘Between the Buttons’ (released Jan 1967).

The print, produced in 1993 as part of Mankowitz’s 30th anniversary as a photographer, is float-mounted in an impressive black wooden frame with museum-grade AR92 Artglass. The print is signed (indistinctly) by the artist at lower left.

Dimensions: 83.5 x 59.5cm (print only); Size 92 x 68cm (framed)

Gered Mankowitz (b. 1946) is a British photographer celebrated for his iconic portraits of leading musicians of the 1960s and beyond, including the Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix and Kate Bush, his intimate style helping to define the visual identity of rock and pop culture.

N.B. Interestingly, Mankowitz also captured the band Oasis early in their career, including another famous photo-shoot on Primrose Hill in 1994. This resulted in one of the images gracing the cover of MOJO magazine. Mankowitz described this as a deliberate homage to his earlier work with the Stones.
