Mid-Century Murano Black & White Striped Art Glass Vase

Price: £175

A stunningly beautiful fine glass work attributed to the Venetian glass master, Dino Martens, for Aureliano Toso Glass Studio, probably created in the 1960’s. The bell/onion shaped vase was hand blown and formed using the Murano glass making technique called “Filigrana” which was made famous by Martens.

Height 20 cm by 13 cm at widest point.

This unsigned piece is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks. As this vase is handmade, it has slight imperfections such as air bubbles in the glass, a common characteristic of such handblown pieces.

N.B. The Filigrana technique uses threads of glass that are laid out side by side and then hot glass is rolled on top of these threads and worked to create the spiralled effect. This particular vase has white and black threads (Bianco Nero) on clear glass that was further encased in another layer of clear glass to create depth.
