MID-CENTURY LONDON UNDERGROUND ‘NORTHERN LINE’ PLATFORM FRIEZE
Price: £575
1950s/60s original enamel Northern Line platform frieze, comprising two roundel spacer signage panels. Finished in black and white with central Northern Line notations. J. Burton & Sons to the verso.
These panels were sited between the repeated station name along the length of the entire frieze.
The two-part railway frieze measures a relatively compact 23cm x 95cm in length.
The frieze has obvious signs of wear in specific areas to the front, most likely made during the removal from the Underground Station. However, this does not unduly detract from the item’s innate urban character.
